Abstract

This study is entitled ‘The Productivity of Affixes of Words Derived from Bases in Hawrami Dialect’. The objective of the study is to investigate the rate and level of productivity of Hawrami dialects affixes that form words in the formation of derived bases, also which of these prefixes and suffixes are more productive at deriving new words (derived base). The study is conducted through the descriptive methodology that is based on statistics. It is consisted of two sections, an introduction, and a conclusion. The first section includes the following topics; definition of adhesives, type of adhesives that produce words, adhesives in Hawrami dialect, methods of deriving new words in Kurdish Language, and types of bases in terms of formation. The second section touches upon the following topics; definition of productivity, a brief about Wshanama Dictionary, productivity of Hawrami affixes. It is concluded with the following result; Prefixes in Hawrami dialect are more productive compared to suffixes, and they have a greater role than suffixes in enriching the linguistic dictionary.
