Abstract

The main aim of this research is to show the role of University in local development, in the fields of: economic, culture, social relationships, the life style of people and human development in Soran city. The research has been done by the mixed method, data collection tools of secondary data, reconnaissance form, semi structured interview and Observation were used in the research, despite of these, the researcher has tried to collecting secondary data and to benefit from them, the used sample was non-probability sampling and its size is (8) persons, From the theoretical side each one of the theories of modernization and dependency theory were used in the research, The results of the research explain that the Soran University has a strong relationship with local development, and it was able to play an important role in economic strengthening, providing job opportunities for individuals, regional development and developing scientific fields in general, also Soran university was able to strengthen the social relationships inside and outside of the University, despite the university's role in strengthening education, human developing, developing teachers and local cadres, weakening subculture and traditionalist thinking, at the end reduce differences between dialects (Sorani and badini).
