Protecting intellectual property rights online has become a major challenge with the tremendous development of information and communication technologies and the emergence of artificial intelligence tools such as Chat GPT. This new technology has enabled the copying, publishing and distributing intellectual property widely and rapidly without obtaining permission from intellectual property rights holders. This study aims to shed light on the legal challenges facing the protection of intellectual property rights online in light of using the artificial intelligence tool Chat GPT. The study adopted a descriptive and analytical approach by collecting and analyzing relevant data and information to reach scientific results. This study is divided into three main sections:
The first section deals with the concept of intellectual property rights and their various types such as copyright, trademarks and patents. The second section deals with the challenges facing the protection of intellectual property online such as piracy and illegal copying. Finally, the third section addresses the impact of artificial intelligence tools, especially Chat GPT, on exacerbating those legal challenges.
The study reached several results, most importantly that artificial intelligence tools pose a new challenge to protecting intellectual property rights due to their ability to automatically and rapidly generate intellectual content. The study recommended the need to develop legislation on protecting intellectual property rights and toughen legal penalties to address these emerging challenges.
