Penal responsibility of oil companies for environmental pollution

This research deals with the criminal responsibility of oil companies for polluting the environment. What is meant is the pollution resulting from the work of companies operating in the field of the oil industry, whether it is the extractive or refining industry, the transport and filtration stage, or the petrochemical manufacturing stage, which constitutes the most prominent pollutants in the living environment and the most capable of causing a disruption to the system. The environment and its living and non-living components, and because of this, the investment legislation in Iraq and all countries of the world emphasizes the obligation of investors and companies working in this field to preserve the integrity of the environment.
Accordingly, the nature of the subject of this research necessitated its treatment in two sections: In the first section, we dealt with the nature of oil pollution of the environment, and in the second section, we studied the legislative treatment of the crime of environmental pollution by oil companies.
