This study is in the field of applied geomorphology, in which geographic information systems (GIS) were used, to display the spatial variation of geomorphological risks in the study area, the study area belongs to Sulaymaniyah Governorate in the east of the Kurdistan Region, located at the end of the borders of a mountainous area, this research aims to present the prevailing geomorphological risks with the main reasons for their occurrence, as well as the impact of these risks on human activities in the study area, and in the end the study reached a set of important results, The natural characteristics of the area particularly the irregularity of elevation, topographic conditions, and climatic factors have activated geomorphological hazards, especially the rapid processes of erosion. It is observed that a small portion of the study area, accounting for 14.58%, is not exposed to geomorphological hazards and is therefore highly suitable for human activities. In contrast, the high-risk zone constitutes 23.41%, where significant geomorphological hazards are present, making these locations entirely unsuitable for conducting human activities within the study area.
