Land cover change in any region and area is largely dependent on population size and growth, and is a major driver of change in built-up areas. Therefore, studying Population growth characterises is considered as one of the most important directions of geography research. The discovery of built-up land cover area is an important indicator of environmental change. This study is conducted to achieve several specific objectives, including identifying and evaluating the effects of population growth on built-up land cover change in Khabat district, ascertaining the extent and trend of built-up area change during the study period, presenting the relationship between population growth and built-up land cover change, identifying the main causes of strong relationship between population growth the study area and increase built-up land area cover in the last thirty years, while using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) tools to identify changes during the years of 1993,2023.
