Rafeek Hilmy and his Methodology in History Writing

Rafeek Hilmy is one of the intellectuals who appeared on the Kurdish political and cultural arena after the First World War. His participation in the events of Shaikh Mahmud's grandson and keeping pace with his developments and his leadership of the Hiwa Party during the years 1939-1945 represented an important turning point in his political life. In addition to his work in the field of politics, Hilmy showed noticeable activity in the fields of education, journalism and translation. He was also classified among the second generation of Kurdish historians, and by writing his personal memoirs, he set the foundation stone for writing memoirs among the Kurds.
The purpose of this study is to show Rafeek Hilmy's approach to history writing, as he had a special way of recording historical information. The importance of the research is that the researcher's reliance on a historical analytical approach and in the framework of independent scientific research presented the approach of Rafeek Hilmy in the writing of history.
