Levels of Social Exclusion among Young People: Middle School Students in the Shaqlawa Education Directorate as an Example

This study aims to: identify the level of social exclusion among middle school students according to the differences between the arithmetic averages. Also, identifying the levels of social exclusion among respondents according to variables (gender, section, branch, family income level, and housing). The importance of this study emerged in identifying the level of feeling of social exclusion among an important and influential group in society, which is the youth group (middle school students), as they are the most active group in society. To explain the phenomenon theoretically, the social rejection theory of Buss (1962) and the needs theory of Maslow (1943) were adopted. All middle school students within the boundaries of Shaqlawa Education, which includes, determined the study population (28) middle schools. A stratified random sample of (400) male and female students was selected from the study population of (5785) male and female students, with (172) males and (228) females. The researcher in the study relied on the quantitative method, and to collect data, a scale (Social exclusion) prepared by (Al-Fatlawi and Ajram, 2021). The results of the study showed that the respondents had a high sense of social exclusion, at a significant level greater than the hypothesized average. It was also noted that the members of the study sample had a positive attitude towards the situation.
