Abstract

This study aimed to identify the training needs of Kurdish language teachers in the preparatory stage from their own perspective. The descriptive analytical approach was adopted, as it suits the nature and objectives of the study. A questionnaire was prepared by the researcher to collect data, and after verifying its validity and reliability, it was administered to the research sample, which consisted of )68( Kurdish language teachers working in public preparatory schools under the General Directorate of Education in the Independent Zakho Administration.

The results of the data analysis showed that the teachers' views regarding their training needs were high across all items, with the highest mean score being (4.02) for item (3), and the highest percentage reaching (80.58), indicating significant training needs. An independent samples t-test was used to detect statistical differences based on the variables of gender, marital status, and years of service. No statistically significant differences were found for the variables of marital status and years of service. However, a statistically significant difference was observed at the (0.05) significance level and (66) degrees of freedom regarding the gender variable, where the calculated t-value was greater than the tabulated t-value, in favor of the male gender. In light of these results, several recommendations and suggestions were presented by the researcher.
