The study investigates the teacher strategies in dealing with certain behaviours: 'Shyness or Silence and Lack of Participation'. The aim of the study is to highlight and select different strategies, which are used and implemented by Soran University instructors, in the field of English Language Teaching. The participants of the current research are 19 teachers from English departments in the faculty of Arts and Education, consisting of 7 females and 12 males. The data are collected through a survey that contains: 10 close-ended question which indicate the teachers' policies and techniques in the classrooms, and the reasons behind this off-task behaviour, and two open-ended questions. The study concludes that the Teacher's keeping eye contact on the students continuously and appointing them as small group leaders are effective strategies, and anxiety from his/her classmates is the main reason behind shyness and passivation in-class activities. The teachers recommend that being friendly and understanding learners' needs would reduce this behaviour as a rate of negative effects. It is also concluded that female students feel shy, and they are more silent than males.
