The aims of studying in a foreign language and its effect on the mother tongue from the perspectives of parents (studying in an English language setting in Erbil Province as an example)

In the last decade, parents' desire to educate their children in English has increased. The researcher has tried to get parents' views on educating their children in second language/English. It aims to find out what strategies the parents (whom their children study in English) have used to help their children learn English faster. At the same time, why do they want their children study in English language? What measures have they taken to preserve the Kurdish language among their children? The researcher has used qualitative method in order to achieve the objectives and answer the research questions and data collection. This method includes several procedures, including interviews, reports, observations, etc. The questionnaire method is one of these methods, the researcher followed to obtain information from the parents of the participants. The questions of this type are semi-closed questions, because the questions are designed in such a way after answering them by the participants, it asks for explanations.
