Sreshma Archaeological site and the Treasure of the Seleucid Coins

Abstract

North of Erbil, in the Khalifan district, is the Soran Independent Administration, which includes the settlement of Sareshma. The commerce caravans travelled via Sareshma and connected with the passes of Gal-i Ali Beg, Alana Valley, and Spilk thanks to its strategic location near multiple mountain passes.

The treasure of the Seleucid coins at Sreshma is the subject of this paper, which also tries to address some of the research questions related to it. It describes the treasure's discovery, the history of its Seleucid coins, and the number of Seleucid kings whose coins were discovered among its coins. Searching for connections between the historical events that led to maintaining and hiding the treasure among these passes in Sareshma.
