Speech Acts in Woman Stories in Holy Qur’an: Selected models

This research aims at studying the most important expressions that have been considered as speech acts  in the woman stories  in the Holy Quran - selected models), which is one of the most important principles pragmatics. It is concerned with study of language as performing different acts at the same time.  When the speaker speaks, he/she actually tells something, declares orders, negates, or wishes…

The first section of the paper deals with  the investigation of the intellectual background of the theory of speech acts  since they were just ideas put forward by "Austin" in a series of lectures until these ideas were evaluated and modified and became a fundamental theory on which  a pragmatical approach was based. This was due to the work of a group of philosophers including Searle. The second section is concerned with the speech verbal acts in the stories of women in the Holy Quran and explains the types and the functions of speech acts depending on the Searlsۥ classification: Expressive, declaratives, Directives, promising and imperatives.
