This research focuses on the religious impacts on the Kurdish national movement in 1880-1914 when most of the Kurdish leaders where religiously inspired. The British travelogue accounts are considered as Britain had an important role in the area. The religious factors are addressed in both internal and external aspects in order to find out how religion affected the Kurdish unity and how this shaped the Kurdish relationship with others for both local and western powers. It is concluded that religious aspects to some extent had a negative impact on the Kurdish national movement and its relationship to the outdoor powers.
