Measuring Depression among women in Kurdistan ( comparative Study Abortion Vs Miscarriage)

The present study addressed problems concerning depression among women who have experienced either a miscarriage or induced abortion. In the current research researchers aimed to identify the level of depression among participants and discuss its negative consequences in relation with some other variables. The researchers employed descriptive quantitative research method to conduct this study. And regarding sampling, data based on purposive sampling method collected among (70) women who have experienced abortion and miscarriage in Kurdistan. To measure depression, researchers based on psychometric properties developed a new self-report which adapted with Kurdish culture. To analysis data, both t. test and ANOVA carried out by means of SPSS software computer program. Finally, results concluded that:
- Both a miscarriage and induced abortion lead to depression.
- The level of depression was higher among women who had miscarriage versus women who had induced abortion.
- The level of depression among (18-30) years old was lower than the level of depression women who their age (30) or above.
- The closer to the incident is more likely to suffer from depression and conversely.
- The illiterate participants experienced a higher level of depression compared with literate women participants.
Based on the above findings some implications have been recommended.
