Alcohol and Its Harms in the Commentary "Tizkari Iman for the Kurdish Community" - Surah Al-Ma'idah

Abstract

This study Entitled "Alcohol and Its Harms in the Commentary "Tizkari Iman for the Kurdish Community" - Surah Al-Ma'idah" aims to constitute a small part of the verification of a Kurdish commentary that has remained in manuscript form until now, titled "Commentary of Tizkari Iman for the Kurdish Community." This commentary is considered one of the most prominent works of Kurdish heritage dedicated to serving the Islamic sciences, the most important of which is serving the Book of Almighty God. This great manuscript is the work of the great teacher (Mulla Muhammad al-Qazi Penjwen), who passed away in 1359 AH and was one of the great Kurdish scholars of his time. The research methodology consists of verifying the commentary by tracing its information back to primary sources. During the verification of the topics within the commentary, Kurdish, Arabic, and Persian terminology is found that required interpretation so that readers could easily understand it. During the research, it became evident that the teacher used several types of Quranic commentary: interpreting the Quran with the Quran, interpreting the Quran with the sayings of our Prophet (peace be upon him), and commentary based on rational opinion, in addition to not neglecting the rational aspect in his commentary. This work demonstrates that the teacher possessed complete and necessary knowledge in all aspects of Islamic jurisprudence, particularly in discussing alcohol and its harms, which he clearly explained regarding the prohibition and impurity of alcohol in his commentary.
