The Feminist Perspective on Military Security in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Abstract

This study examines the military security sector of the Kurdistan Region by integrating the Copenhagen School's security framework with a feminist security perspective. The research seeks to provide a critical examination of the interplay between traditional military security practices and gender dynamics, leading to a more nuanced understanding of the military security situation in the KRI. Two main research questions drive this study forward:

1. How do gender dynamics influence the structure and functioning of the military sector in the Kurdistan Region, particularly the Peshmerga forces?
2. How can integrating feminist perspectives within traditional military security frameworks improve and strengthen the national security of the Kurdistan Region?
