In every country, the constitution is the main basis for the political system and the making of laws. Of course, this principle plays a more important role in multi-ethnic societies, because it is necessary to ensure the rights of all communities without discrimination and to maintain a balance between individuals in society. In multi-ethnic societies, the constitution is not just a legal document, but a social covenant between different communities. The success of the treaty depends on the degree of balance between the needs of different communities and the ability of the constitution to provide a legal and political framework that is consistent with the culture and history of the society. Meanwhile, the Kurdistan Region as a region with many different communities such as (Kurdish, Arab, Turkmen, Chaldean, Assyrian, Armenian, etc.) is a very appropriate example to analyze the characteristics of writing a constitution. The draft constitution of the Kurdistan Region, despite all its shortcomings, is an important step towards establishing a multi-structural democratic system that guarantees the rights of all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, religion or culture.
