Abstract

This study is entitled “The Productivity of Compounding Process in Kurdish Language”. The thesis is about productivity in the Compounding process in which the extent of productivity is manifested in the compound-word construction. Although the processes of Compounding and compound-words have been stated in Kurdish linguistic sources, the productivity in various compound-words and the rules for constructing the compound-words have not been explained in Kurdish Language. Furthermore, compound words play great roles in enriching Kurdish dictionaries. To show the productivity extent in the rules of constructing compound-words, the researcher has depended on descriptive and statistic methods. For the statistics, he has got benefit of Excel programme in Microsoft Programme. Besides, the researcher has made use of the Bisetto and Scalise classification to categorize various compound words. A number of results have been reached at to reveal the ratio of difference in productivity level among the kinds of compound words and among the rules of constructing compound words. A part from the introduction, results, and the utilized references, the present research is comprised of three sections.
